A somewhat variable plant with deep red flowers
with dark leaves and stems.
Sun or partial shade in moist, fertile soil.
Plant matures with age and only reaches it’s true
potential by third year. 2 ½ feet. Deadhead as fades.

A good dark cultivar grown from selected seedlings
of “ Ruby Wedding “
Needs a moisture retentive soil and light shade.
Flowers profusely from May into Summer.
Clumps build and improve over the years.

A very free-flowering branching pink form developed
by George Smith of  York.
2 feet. Flowers June-August.  Sun or partial shade.
Will form dense clumps in moisture retentive soil.

Clump-forming perennial for woodland, streamside
or moist border.
Dark red bracts and flowers over a long period from
early Summer.12-36 inches. Hardy.
Sun or partial shade.

One of my favourites among the many newer Astrantias.
Large, greentipped flowers often flushed pink in
early season.
2 ½ feet. Large dense clumps in moisture retentive soils.
